Go-kart through the streets of Shibuya
Drive a costumed go-kart through the Shibuya crossing, Harajuku and Omotesando; experience from around 8.000 ¥. Requires an international driving permit.
Driving a go-kart through the real streets of Tokyo dressed as your favourite character is one of the most fun and most photographed experiences in the city. This Street Kart activity in Shibuya takes you through the legendary Shibuya crossing, the avenues of Harajuku and Omotesando and other iconic points, driving with normal traffic in karts approved for public roads. An instructor guides the group and costumes are provided for the route. The price starts at around 8.000 ¥ depending on the duration (usually one to two hours). The essential requirement is to present an international driving permit valid in Japan: for Spanish citizens, that means the international permit based on the 1949 Geneva Convention (the EU permit alone is not valid), plus the passport. It is advisable to book in advance and check the weather forecast, as the tours can be suspended in heavy rain. The departure point is a few minutes from Shibuya station. Bring comfortable clothes and, if you want, a camera secured to your body to record the ride.
