International festivals in Yoyogi Park

Tokyo · Harajuku / Yoyogi · Events

Free

Events such as the Thai Festival or Brazil Festival with free entry and lots of food stalls.

Yoyogi Park in Tokyo is the setting throughout the year for a series of free-entry international festivals that turn its lawns into authentic gastronomic and cultural journeys around the world. The most popular are the Thai Festival (usually in May), one of the most heavily attended Asian events in Tokyo, and the Brazil Festival (July), where music, samba and Brazilian food take over the park for the weekend. In addition to these, festivals of India, Vietnam, Mexico, Thailand and other countries are held throughout spring and summer. Entry is always free and the atmosphere is festive, multicultural and very family-friendly. The food stalls are the big attraction: authentic cuisine dishes at reasonable prices that are a very interesting alternative to the restaurants. The park is a 5-minute walk from Harajuku station (JR Yamanote) or from Meijijingumae (Metro Chiyoda and Fukutoshin). Check the events calendar before your visit so as not to miss any; they are announced a few weeks in advance on portals such as Tokyo Cheapo.
