Kimono rental in Asakusa
Rent a complete kimono near Kaminarimon and stroll around Asakusa all day; basic plan from around 2.000 ¥.
Strolling through Asakusa dressed in a traditional kimono is one of the most popular and authentic cultural experiences in Tokyo, and the district of the Senso-ji temple is the perfect setting for it. At this rental, located a few steps from the Kaminarimon gate, you can choose from hundreds of kimonos and yukatas of different patterns; the price includes the obi (sash), the sandals, the bag and the rest of the accessories, with no surprises. The basic plan starts at around 2.000 ¥ and usually lets you return the clothes at the end of the afternoon, so you have the whole day to tour the temple, the Nakamise shopping street and the district's lanes. For a supplement you can add a hairstyle and Japanese updo. It is advisable to book the morning slot to have more leeway and a better selection of garments. It is a two-minute walk from Asakusa station (Ginza and Asakusa lines). Tip: combine the stroll with the visit to Senso-ji and leave time for the photos next to the great red lantern and the five-storey pagoda.
