An enclosed shopping mall full of second-hand shops, Mandarake and otaku collecting.

Nakano Broadway is the alternative paradise of otaku collectors in Tokyo, often nicknamed "the Akihabara of the west" for its more authentic and less touristy atmosphere. This four-storey shopping mall connected directly to Nakano station concentrates dozens of specialist shops, with Mandarake the absolute star: with 32 branches within the same complex, this second-hand chain covers absolutely the whole spectrum of Japanese collecting: vintage figures, retro video games, anime CDs, dojinshi, cosplay, idol-group items, Ultraman toys and much more. The prices are noticeably lower than in Akihabara, with figures from 1.000 ¥ and manga from 500 ¥. The complex opens from 10:00 to 20:00. It is reached in five minutes' walk from the north exit of Nakano station (JR Chuo line). Ideal for those looking for rare or second-hand items at a good price in a more relaxed and genuinely Japanese atmosphere.
