Rainbow Bridge night walk
A free walk along the pedestrian walkway of the Rainbow Bridge with night views of the bay.
The Rainbow Bridge is the suspension bridge that connects the Shibaura district with the artificial island of Odaiba over Tokyo Bay, and crossing it on foot along its pedestrian walkway is one of the most original free plans in the city. The journey of about 1,7 kilometres (20-30 minutes' walk) offers spectacular views in both directions: to the north, the silhouette of Tokyo Tower among the skyscrapers of the centre; to the east, the Tokyo Skytree; and to the south, the docks and Mount Fuji on clear days. There are two lanes: the north with views of the city and the south with views of the bay. Access is completely free. The walkway hours are 9:00 to 21:00 from April to October and 10:00 to 18:00 from November to March; it closes on the third Monday of each month. At night the bridge is illuminated with white lights (and coloured ones on special dates) thanks to solar panels, becoming one of the most characteristic night views of Tokyo. To access it, follow the signs from Shibaura-futo station (Yurikamome) or from the Odaiba side. Bring water and sunscreen if you go in summer.
