Shibuya Center-Gai
A pedestrian shopping street in Shibuya full of shops, fast food and youth fashion.
Shibuya Center-Gai is the most emblematic pedestrian street of Tokyo youth fashion. It starts right behind the famous Shibuya crossing and extends several hundred metres into the district, packed with fast-fashion shops, food chains, karaokes, arcades and entertainment venues open until the early morning. It is the epicentre of Japanese urban trends: here you can see gyaru, everyday cosplay and styles you will not find anywhere else in the world. Access is completely free. The shops generally open from 11:00 to 23:00 or later. The best way to get there is to leave by the Hachiko exit of Shibuya station (JR, Tokyu and Metro lines) and cross the famous scramble crossing: Center-Gai is right on the other side, unmistakable for its entrance arch and the constant bustle. It is an ideal plan both by day for shopping and by night to feel the most intense pulse of Tokyo. Combine it with a visit to the crossing and the Shibuya Sky viewpoint for a complete Shibuya afternoon.
