Shibuya Sky
A rooftop viewpoint over the Shibuya crossing; advance tickets are usually around 2.200 ¥.
Shibuya Sky is the most modern and spectacular viewpoint in Tokyo: a completely open-air rooftop on the 46th floor of the Shibuya Scramble Square building, at 229 metres height, with 360-degree views with no glass or barriers interrupting the panorama. From here you can see the famous Shibuya crossing directly at your feet, as well as the Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Mount Fuji on clear days and the infinite horizon of the megalopolis. The experience of being on an open rooftop over Tokyo, with the wind and the muffled noise of the city, is hard to describe. The tickets cost around 2.200-2.500 ¥ if bought online in advance (more expensive at the box office and they can sell out). The hours are 10:00 to 22:30 (last entry at 21:20). The best thing is to book for about 30 minutes before sunset and stay until nightfall to see the transformation of the illuminated crossing. Note: items such as loose hats, tripods or selfie sticks are prohibited. Shibuya station is at the foot of the building.
