Yomiuriland — Tokyo

Yomiuriland

Tokyo · Inagi / Tama · Theme parks

1.800 ¥ per person

An amusement park 35 min from Shinjuku with roller coasters and a Ferris wheel; admission from around 1.800 ¥ (attractions pass separate).

Yomiuriland is one of the great amusement parks in the Tokyo area, located between Inagi and Kawasaki, and a less crowded alternative to Disney for a day of adrenaline. It has more than forty attractions, among them the Bandit roller coaster, which reaches 110 km/h along more than a kilometre and a half of track, a large Ferris wheel with views and the Goodjoba! zone, with factory-themed attractions. In winter it stands out for its spectacular Jewellumination illumination, one of the best in the region. The entrance ticket to the grounds starts at around 1.800 ¥, while the pass that includes the attractions is bought separately and works out more economical if you plan to ride several. It is reached in about 35 minutes from Shinjuku on the Keio or Odakyu line to Keio-Yomiuri-Land station, from where a scenic cable car leaves you at the entrance. Tip: buy the ticket online to avoid queues and check the hours, which vary by season and night events.
