Kamakura · Fujisawa / Katase · Animals

2.800 ¥ per person

Aquarium next to Katase beach, opposite Enoshima Island, with jellyfish, dolphins and Sagami Bay; admission around 2.800 ¥.

The Enoshima Aquarium, affectionately known as Enosui, is one of the most beautiful aquariums in the Kamakura and Shonan area, located beside Katase beach with views of Enoshima Island and, on clear days, Mount Fuji. It is organised into themed zones that take you through the rich marine life of Sagami Bay, with a large main tank, a spectacular hall of illuminated jellyfish, penguins, turtles and a stadium where dolphin shows are held. It is a very pleasant visit for families and couples, and a good plan to combine with a day at the beach or with the visit to Enoshima Island, which is right opposite. Admission is around 2.800 ¥, with reduced rates for children. It is easily reached by train to Katase-Enoshima (Odakyu line) or Enoshima (Enoden line) stations, a few minutes' walk away. It is advisable to buy the ticket online to speed up entry. On arrival, check the times of the dolphin shows and the animal feeding to organise your visit and not miss the best of it.
