Monkey Land & Anitown Nikko

Nikko · Kinugawa · Animals

A small park near Kinugawa with monkey shows and encounters, plus a themed area for younger children; entry around 1.700 ¥.

Monkey Land & Anitown is a small animal and leisure park in the Kinugawa area near Nikko, designed above all for families with children. Its main draw is the monkeys: there are shows in which the animals display their skill and intelligence, as well as areas to see them up close, a deeply rooted tradition in Japan. The site is rounded out with a themed leisure area for younger children, with attractions and light activities for a fun while. Admission is around 1.700 ¥. It is a simple, inexpensive option to combine with other plans in the Kinugawa Onsen area, such as Tobu World Square or a hot-spring bath, especially if you are travelling with children and looking for activities that are not temples. It is reached by the Tobu line to the Kinugawa area. It is worth checking the show times and availability online before going. Without being one of Nikko's major attractions, it is a pleasant complement to a family getaway in the region.
