NIFREL: interactive aquarium-zoo (Expocity) — Osaka

NIFREL: interactive aquarium-zoo (Expocity)

Osaka · Suita (Expocity) · Animals

2.200 ¥ per person

A living museum between aquarium and zoo in Expocity, with animals almost without barriers (capybaras, penguins, otters); adult admission around 2.200 ¥.

NIFREL is a unique space halfway between an aquarium, a zoo and an art museum, located in the Expocity complex in Suita, next to Osaka. Its concept, kansei ni fureru (to touch with sensibility), translates into themed exhibitions that almost eliminate the barriers between visitor and animals: brightly lit fish like works of art, a zone where otters, capybaras and small primates move freely near the public, and a spectacular central space with a changing ball of light. It is an ideal plan for families, couples and photography lovers, and being covered it works well at any time of year. Adult admission is around 2.200 ¥, with reduced rates for children, and there are combos with the Kaiyukan aquarium. It is reached on the Osaka monorail to Banpaku-kinen-koen station, next to Expocity, where there is also the large Redhorse Osaka Wheel Ferris wheel and shopping centres. Check the animal-feeding times on arrival so as not to miss them.
