Sannomiya is the commercial and nightlife heart of Kobe, with an entertainment offering ranging from traditional izakayas to signature cocktail bars in the alleys of Kitano-cho and live-music venues around the station. The Kobe district has a reputation as the most international and sophisticated of the Kansai cities: the foreign residents who have been here for generations have left a unique food culture that mixes Japanese cuisine with Chinese, Indian and European influences. The Sannomiya-Motomachi area is home to cocktail bars with terraces, Kobe curry restaurants (different from the standard Japanese one, with more complex spices), wine bars and small jazz clubs. A night with dinner and drinks is around 2.500-4.000 ¥ per person. The best area for bars is around Kitano-zaka street, which stays active until 2:00-3:00 at the weekend.
