Rickshaw ride through Kamakura
Tour the corners of Kamakura in a rickshaw pulled by a local guide who shows you spots you would miss on foot; rides from around 3.000 ¥.
The rickshaw ride is one of the most pleasant and comfortable ways to discover Kamakura, especially its quietest and most photogenic corners. Aboard a cart pulled by a local guide of the well-known Ebisuya company, you tour streets and paths that often go unnoticed on foot, while the puller cheerfully tells you the history of the old shogunate capital and takes you to the best spots for photos. From the raised seat of the rickshaw you enjoy a different perspective of the temples, the traditional houses and the vegetation. There are rides of different lengths, and the shortest ones start at around 3.000 ¥. It is an ideal plan for couples, families or people who prefer not to walk much, and a great way to give context to the visit. It is booked in the tourist area of Kamakura itself, near the station and Komachi-dori. Kamakura is less than an hour from Tokyo, so the rickshaw is a perfect complement to a day getaway to this city of temples by the sea.
