Solaniwa Onsen – themed onsen in the bay
An Edo-style hot-spring complex with baths, restaurants and an outdoor area.
Solaniwa Onsen is one of the most modern and luxurious hot-spring complexes in the Kansai region, located in the Bentenchō district, next to Osaka Bay. Its alkaline waters rise from a spring 1.000 metres deep and are reputed to leave the skin soft and nourished. The complex offers nine types of indoor and outdoor baths: an open-air bath with natural water, a bath with views of the Sky Garden, carbonated baths, a seasonal bath and several saunas. The aesthetic is elegant, inspired by the Japanese gardens of the Edo period, with an architecture that integrates wood, stone and vegetation. In addition to the baths, the complex has restaurants, a rest area with yukata, and entertainment areas. Admission costs approximately 2.000-2.500 yen per person depending on the day and the fare chosen; to this is added a municipal bathing tax of 150 yen. It is open from 10:00 to 22:00. To get there, take the subway to Bentenchō station (JR Loop or Chuo lines) and follow the covered passage directly to the ART Hotel Osaka Bay Tower, where the onsen is located.
