Tombori River Cruise
A 20-minute mini cruise along the Dotonbori canal to see the area from the water.
The Tombori River Cruise is a delightful and different way to see Dotonbori: a mini cruise of about 20 minutes that travels the canal aboard a small boat, with a guide who narrates in Japanese (and sometimes basic English) the history and curiosities of each sign and building lining the river. From the water the perspective is completely different: the neon reflects in the canal, the Glico sign appears in all its splendour and the passers-by on the riverside promenade wave to you from the bank. It is an especially recommended plan at dusk or at night. The price is around 2.000 yen for adults and 500 yen for primary-school children; younger children do not pay. The cruises leave roughly every half hour, between 11:00 and 21:00. The boarding point is on the first floor of the Don Quijote building in Dotonbori, above the Tonbori River Walk promenade, about five to ten minutes' walk from Namba station. It is not necessary to book far in advance, but in high season it is advisable to arrive a little earlier.
