Mazda factory tour and museum
Free two-hour guided tour of Mazda's history and the live assembly plant; online booking required.
The Mazda Museum at the brand's headquarters in Fuchū offers a two-hour guided tour, completely free but with online booking required at least a month in advance. The tour includes the brand's history museum (with classic models such as the Cosmo Sport and the first RX-7), the live assembly plant where you can see the cars coming off the production line, and the design gallery. It is one of the most impressive factory tours available to the public in Japan and a very different experience from the rest of Hiroshima's attractions. Admission is free; booking is done on the official Mazda website in English or Japanese. The museum is on Mazda's central campus in Fuchū-cho, accessible by bus from Hiroshima station (35 minutes) or by taxi. Bring comfortable shoes without metal soles for the plant's security checks. Not suitable for children under 6. Available Monday to Friday except holidays.
